Fun Times in Fiji

Bula, everyone! We are having the most amazing time in Fiji so far. We’ve jumped right in (literally) to full-on fun, going snorkeling and diving our second day here. We saw some beautiful coral reef and highlights from diving include sighting a sea turtle and swimming among reef sharks! We spent the rest of the day relaxing on the beach at our lodging and taking in the beautiful blue waters. In the evening, we participated in a Fijian dance show (which was a hoot!) and watched the exciting fire show.

On our third day, we went to Fiji’s first national park, the Sigatoka Sand Dunes. There we had a ranger guide us on a hike through the rainforest, to the tops of huge sand dunes, and along a beautiful beach. Some of us rode down the dunes on a boogie board while others opted for their bums. In both cases, it was great fun! The Fijian national rugby team is known for training at the dunes. We can personally attest that running up the dunes is a workout! Later in the afternoon, we visited a nearby village, participating in a welcome kava ceremony, and then walked to a waterfall where we swam and enjoyed the serenity of the rainforest. It was so refreshing and well worth it!

So all in all, life is good. We will share how our final few days in Fiji go before we head off to New Zealand. Stay tuned for more!
