The Outback

Although we are all home by now, we still want to some share photos from our time in the Outback. Also, Paula wrote an excerpt from her impression of our first day there. Enjoy! — Jaimie & Stephen

Our flight from Sydney to the Outback was about three hours—once again it was an early morning flight so we were pretty tired. As soon as we arrived, we met our guides, Rachel and Jesse, from the Mulgas Adventure Tours, who already had lunch prepared for us and a day full of activities. Our first stop was the Alice Springs Desert Park where we got to see rescued kangaroos as well as a really cool bird show! Then we drove to our campsite for the night (which felt like it was in the middle of nowhere), where we made a fire, and were taught the lifestyle of a camper. I had really low expectations about sleeping in a “swag” outside in the Outback, but fortunately it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Quite cozy, actually! I have to say that one of my favorite experiences on this trip was sleeping outside with a view of the sky filled with stars!
